Thankful

We hope you and your loved ones had a beautiful, relaxing and #thankful Canadian Thanksgiving this past weekend. As we gathered with friends and family around warm dinners and falling leaves we couldn’t help but be reminded of Carley’s words “always smile”. Reminding us that there is always a reason to smile and …be thankful.

So, reminisce on a weekend of thankfulness and enjoy the #thankful blog

As a person battling cancer its hard to lose sight of it all, it’s easy to become consumed with negative thoughts, feelings, and the unbelievably difficult reality of life with a cancer diagnosis. So on this blog, we are sharing some of Carley’s blog posts that were not published in“Always Smile: Carley Allison’s Secrets to Laughing, Loving and Loving”. Stories where she found reasons during her battle to be thankful for someone or something. Each of these blogs was titled “Thank You”…

I got home on Tuesday afternoon to a large package from Florida sitting on my Kitchen table. I couldn’t think of anyone who would be sending something from Florida. Curiously, i began to open it. The first thing i pulled out was a 2 page long typed out letter. The letter was from Alex Bogorin, Alex and my older sister Riley met at Mcmaster University last year, and have been close friends ever since. Alex is an extremely talented and accomplished Sprint Kayaker. He is currently in Florida training with the national Team in hopes of making the 2013 Under 23 World Championship Team.

I visited my sister at school last year and Alex was always welcoming and a fun person to be around. I want to wish Alex good luck this season! your gonna do awesome! Me and Riley are rooting for you!

Big thank you to Alex Bogorin and the Canadian Canoe-Kayake spring training team for this amazing signed polo. you guys are amazing! Train hard!

Thank you Ryan and Jason!

by carleyelleallison

Last week my two cousins Ryan (Grade 5) and Jason ( Grade 3) held a bake sale at their elementary school to raise money for sick kids, raising over $1000. They are probably the most mature elementary school kids i have ever met in my entire life, and although they are young they have a pretty good understanding of what is going on in my life. I have always been very close with all of my family and this is just another event that shows me how truly incredible they all are! THANK YOU <3

Thank you Tasha and Lexi!

by carleyelleallison

I wanted to thank little miss Tasha and Lexi for the amazing gift they made for me. Sweetest little girls i know!

Although many who read this blog, my self included, have not been personally diagnosed with cancer we do understand the negative impact a cancer diagnosis can have on all of us.

I think Carley would be honoured if we could just take away a simple message from her uncanny ability to be thankful in the worst of situations.

That, like there is always a reason to smile, there is also always a reason to be thankful.

And that is one of the simplest reasons her story has touched the hearts of so many. She reminds us that “even amongst the darkest days, it’s still a beautiful life”- Carley Elle Allison
